Our chocolatey side:
Fair organic Alpine milk for totally fair chocolate

Fair milk meets fair chocolate

Totally fair chocolate enjoyment, is that possible? It is now, since GEPA, Europe's largest fair trade organisation, rose to the challenge with its partners, the Berchtesgadener Land dairy and the organic association Naturland.

The meaning of totally fair

Thanks to this unique cooperation, the future vision of a ‘totally fair’ organic chocolate has become a reality. North and south now work hand in hand! The Berchtesgadener Land dairy from Piding in the northern hemisphere supplies the fair trade organic Alpine milk, while cocoa cooperatives like El Naranjillo from Peru in the southern hemisphere supply the fair trade organic cocoa.

Under the umbrella of the organic and fair standards set out by Naturland and GEPA, the ideal combination of these ingredients for pure chocolate enjoyment came about.

The decision to involve the Berchtesgadener Land dairy was an easy one; after all, it was the first company in Germany to receive Naturland Fair product certification. Terms such as ‘organic’, ‘social° and ‘fair’ are not just empty words here.

Everyone along the production and supply chain ultimately benefits, and this is summed up by Georg Schlickenrieder, Naturland farmer for the Berchtesgadener Land dairy: "For me, fair partnerships that cover costs and make it possible to make a profit are an opportunity to preserve myArche-Hof* (‘ark farm’) and give people a better understanding of organic farming methods."

* An Arche-Hof keeps endangered animals that are on the Red List. They are kept involved in the agricultural production process and their yield potential and special characteristics are specifically utilised, thus ensuring their long-term preservation.
